Acclaimed journalist Roland S. Martin is set to impart his experience and knowledge in a masterclass dedicated to advancing journalism education and careers for aspiring journalists at N.C. A&T.
Martin is the host and managing editor of #RolandMartinUnfiltered, the first daily online show focused on news and analysis of politics, entertainment, sports, and culture from an explicitly Black perspective.
The event scheduled for Wednesday November 29, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Deese Ballroom, promises to be a transformative opportunity for students eager to make their mark in the ever-evolving world of media. The program is part of a series of workshops funded through a grant from NBCUniversal.

“The world we are living in has totally changed, but students must still understand the basics,” Martin said. “Understanding technology is crucial, but that still hasn’t replaced the who, what, where, when, how and why.”
Martin has worked as a commentator for TV One, host of “News One Now” and “Washington Watch with Roland Martin” and as a CNN commentator.
Recognized as “The Voice Of Black America,” Martin’s career spans interviews with U.S. presidents, top athletes and Hollywood entertainers.
His unwavering commitment to providing a platform for African-American perspectives in media has solidified his reputation as a trailblazer.
The masterclass is tailor-made for journalism enthusiasts seeking insights into the dynamic landscape of reporting and multimedia journalism.
Attendees will have the rare opportunity to learn firsthand from Martin’s experiences, gaining valuable tips on becoming a more effective reporter in today’s fast-paced media environment.
#RolandMartinUnfiltered, reflects Martin’s dedication to amplifying diverse voices.
Launched on Sept. 4, 2018, the show has become a vital platform for discussions that matter, contributing to a more inclusive media landscape.
The masterclass, a chance for students to enhance their journalism skills and an occasion to engage with a living legend in the field, will be followed by breakfast and lunch at a location to be determined.
This event promises to be a milestone in the academic journey of aspiring journalists, offering insights that extend beyond textbooks and into the real-world challenges and triumphs of the media industry. Registration is open and encouraged for this event.
