The Shaufler Prize is now accepting entries for 2024.
Paul B. Anderson established The Shaufler Prize at the Cronkite School in 2021 in honor of his friend Ed Shaufler.
The award emphasizes stories that advance the understanding of issues related to underserved people in society, such as communities of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+, the disabled community, and more.
Awards for the professional entries include $10,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, and $2,000 for third place. Students enrolled in an accredited journalism program in the U.S. can receive a $5,000 prize for a winning entry.
The acceptance window is now open, and the deadline to enter is midnight on December 16, 2024. There is no entrance fee for the application.
Winners will be announced in early 2025.
The entry form can be filled out here. Entrants or their representatives need a Submittable account.
