If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur pursuing a career in media, marketing or communications, you have an opportunity to earn $2,500 through the 2025 Dr. Sheila Brooks NABJ Entrepreneur Scholarship.
The scholarship honors Dr. Sheila Brooks, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and entrepreneur. It recognizes her decades of leadership and commitment to NABJ, where she served as the first national scholarship and internship programs co-chair, a national executive board member and founder of the NABJ Multimedia Student Projects. She continues to serve on national committees for the organization.
Dr. Brooks’ accomplishments include induction into the 2023 NABJ Hall of Fame, the 2019 NABJ Ida B. Wells Award and the inaugural 2011 NABJ Patricia L. Tobin Media Professional Award. She is also a three-time recipient of the NABJ President’s Award.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current NABJ student member in good standing.
- Must be an incoming graduate student or a graduate student with at least one full year of school remaining at an accredited U.S. college or university at the time of application and disbursement.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Only one $2,500 award will be given each calendar year to one recipient.
The deadline has been extended to Nov. 17, 2025, at midnight PT.
