The Sports Journalism Institute (SJI) is now accepting applications for aspiring sports journalists for the Class of 2026.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in sports journalism through newsroom immersion, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with industry professionals. The program has produced alumni working at leading organizations, including ESPN, The Athletic, MLB.com, The Baltimore Banner and The New York Times. Notable alumni include Heather Dinich, college reporter for ESPN; Kennedi Landry, Texas Rangers reporter for MLB.com; James Wagner, international correspondent for The New York Times; and more.
Application materials include:
- Two letters of recommendation
- Links to no more than seven web or video stories
- Most recent college transcript
- Personal essay (maximum 500 words) explaining why you should be chosen
- Professional-quality headshot or bio image (minimum 400px by 400px)
