Applications for The New York Times Fellowship are Open!
The New York Times Fellowship is a one-year program designed to prepare and develop the next generation of journalists through hands-on newsroom experience, mentorship and professional training.
This highly competitive program offers up-and-coming journalists the opportunity to report, edit and produce multimedia content alongside respected industry professionals. Fellows work in The New York Times’ newsrooms in New York, Washington, San Francisco and London, where they will work on impactful stories that reach audiences worldwide.
Fellows receive a full-time salary starting at $82,415 per year, along with benefits, mentorship and editorial workshops led by senior journalists.
Fellowship Tracks
Participants can apply for one track per application cycle. Available tracks include:
• Reporting and Editing
• Visual Journalism
• Audio and Video Production
• Photojournalism
• Opinion Writing
• Audience and Multimedia

Eligibility Criteria
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States or the United Kingdom
• Open to recent graduates and early-career journalists with under five years of professional experience
• Must demonstrate strong storytelling and communication skills
• Must submit a complete application with all required materials
• Must be available to work full time from June 2026 to May 2027
