Applications for the Dow Jones News Fund Summer Internship Program are open!
The Dow Jones News Fund is seeking college students for paid summer internships with media organizations across the country. By completing one application, students will be considered for placements at more than 60 newsrooms nationwide.
Interns will attend one of the program’s weeklong specialized training sessions with all expenses covered by the News Fund before reporting to their assigned newsroom for 10 to 12 weeks of hands-on experience at top media companies.
Weekly salaries start at $525 or more, depending on the newsroom and local minimum wage laws. Internships may be in-person or hybrid, depending on the newsroom’s requirements. Interns returning to school after the program are also eligible for a $1,500 scholarship from the News Fund upon completion.
Eligibility Criteria
• Must be a college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student enrolled full time as of Nov. 5, 2025
• Includes December graduates, U.S. students studying abroad and international students in the U.S. with work visas
• Applicants must not have worked full time as a professional journalist for one year or more
Program Opportunities
• Audience Engagement: Support newsroom efforts to connect with audiences through SEO-friendly headlines, newsletters, video content and social media engagement
• Business Reporting: Report on stories related to finance, small businesses, labor, entrepreneurship, real estate and economic trends
• Data Journalism: Work with public records, data analysis and investigative reporting projects using spreadsheets and digital tools
• Digital Media: Gain experience across print, video, audio and social media platforms
• Multiplatform Editing: Edit stories for accuracy and style while crafting headlines and preparing content for publication
Previous internship placements include The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Barron’s, Fortune and The Marshall Project.
