Applications Open for The Wall Street Journal News Associates Program in New York!
The Wall Street Journal is seeking early-career journalists for its News Associates Program, a paid, two-year opportunity offering hands-on newsroom experience and mentorship. This position provides immersive training in fact-based, ethical journalism with a six-month reporting assignment at a regional U.S. bureau, including housing.
Throughout the two-year program, associates will rotate across multiple departments, gaining experience in:
• News reporting and source development
• Content strategy and audience engagement
• Story editing and narrative refinement
• Visual storytelling and data analysis
• Podcast and video production
• AI innovation and digital journalism tools
The program begins in summer 2026 and is open to recent graduates and early-career professionals with up to five years of experience.
Eligibility Criteria
• Must have prior newsroom or equivalent professional experience
• Must demonstrate strong writing, data-reporting and analytical skills
• Must have a strong grasp of current events and the digital media landscape
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
Associates will earn $36 per hour ($65,520 annually).
