The Athletic is accepting applications for its Leon H. Carter Internship Program for summer 2026. This paid, remote position offers hands-on experience in video editing, storytelling and production for one of the most prominent names in sports journalism.
Reporter Video Student Interns will assist in producing and editing video stories featuring The Athletic’s reporters. Interns will collaborate across teams to create highlights, social video and digital storytelling content.
This is a remote internship that may require some travel to New York. Candidates based in New York City have the option of working on-site in the New York office.
The rate of pay for this role is $20 per hour.
Eligibility Criteria
• Must have experience in video editing and visual journalism
• Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro
• Must have a strong interest in sports and storytelling
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed
