Hearst Newspapers is accepting applications for the 2026 National Hearst Journalism Fellowship, a full-time, two-year program designed to launch early-career journalists into professional newsroom roles. Fellows complete two 12-month rotations at major Hearst newspapers in cities such as San Francisco, Houston, San Antonio, Albany or locations in Connecticut.
Fellows will work alongside Pulitzer-winning journalists, receive hands-on mentoring and report using data, video and digital tools. The program offers experience in digital reporting, investigative journalism, breaking news and audience engagement, with access to advanced newsroom training and resources.
The fellowship includes full-time employment with salary and benefits, career development planning and relocation or housing support depending on placement. Fellows also gain mentorship and networking across Hearst’s national newsroom network, with the potential to transition into long-term roles after the program.
