The National Association of Black Journalists is accepting applications for the Thomas Morgan III LGBTQ+ Task Force Grant. This grant provides up to $1,500 in financial assistance for LGBTQ+ students, journalists and media professionals to attend the 2026 NABJ Convention & Career Fair in Atlanta.
The grant is named after Thomas Morgan III, NABJ’s eighth president, whose leadership helped establish the LGBTQ+ Task Force. It supports applicants who aim to elevate inclusive storytelling and strengthen representation in newsrooms. Up to three recipients will be selected.
Eligibility Criteria
• Must identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community
• Must be an NABJ member in good standing (membership will be updated if needed)
• Must submit a statement of need outlining how funds will be used
• Must be an undergraduate or graduate student with at least one year of school remaining
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, verified by an official transcript
• Must complete all application requirements
Grant funds may be used for registration, travel, lodging and related expenses for the 2026 Convention. Recipients may also receive a meal stipend upon arrival.
