Become a Lead NC fellow, applications open through April 13

Lead of NC is seeking fellows interested in joining their 2026 cohort. The program offers recent graduates with an interest in local government a full-time, 11-month paid fellowship. Applications are welcomed through April 13.

Fellows will work on transformative projects in local government ranging from economic development, planning, environmental resiliency, capital finance and budgeting, citizen engagement, and more.

Fellow benefits include:

  • $35,000 (minimum) stipend for the 11-month role
  • A nearly $7,000 Segal Education Award to help repay student loans or apply toward graduate tuition
  • Health insurance
  • Student loan deferment and forbearance options,

  • Graduate application support
  • Professional coaching and mentorship.
