3-Day NBCU Masterclass Intensive Sessions
In this workshop with with NAACP & 3-time Emmy Nominated Executive Producer, VP & Showrunner Tarvenia Jones, Executive Producer/Director – Oji Singletary, and Emmy Nominated TV Producer Jocelyn Jackson students walked away with applicable knowledge to getting their career started in the entertainment and media industry.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Oji’s session on Monday. I took a lot away from his conversation, but the stuck ones surrounded exposure, resilience, and the importance of compelling storytelling. I’m a marketing major and started taking classes in JOMC last year. Knowing that Mr. Oji was too a business major in college and gave me some encouragement in knowing that I’m not behind in starting my career. Regarding resilience, one thing Mr. Oji encouraged us to embrace the rejection and the bruises that come with working in the industry.
Feedback from JOMC Students Attending NBCUniversal Masterclass Intensive with Oji Singletary
Jones’s anecdotes and advice resonated deeply with me, particularly her emphasis on building a strong professional foundation and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Her insights have motivated me to proactively collaborate with my peers to create compelling content for my own reel, thus solidifying my commitment to pursuing a career in TV, film, and production. Overall, the intensive session proved to be immensely rewarding, further fueling my enthusiasm to immerse myself in the dynamic world of entertainment.

Masterclass Intensive with Jocelyn Jackson
Feedback from JOMC Students Attending NBCUniversal
“I will say, having Mrs. Jackson wrap up this masterclass series was the greatest thing that could have happened. My three biggest takeaways were, how building up your credits and resume is the most effective way to start off, how much writing will benefit you in this career, and to angle yourself as a brand at all times.
